Join us Sunday, September 20th for our biggest community event of the year!

Walk With Us is the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society's annual walk bringing together individuals, families, and organizations from across Manitoba to raise funds, build community, and celebrate the incredible individuals with Down syndrome in our lives.

Why We Walk

To Raise Funds

Walk With Us is MDSS's primary annual fundraiser. Every dollar raised goes directly toward vital programs and services that enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families - from educational resources and support networks to social programming and inclusive community initiatives.

To Raise Awareness

Walk With Us is a powerful platform for education and understanding. By bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and communities, the event helps dispel misconceptions about Down syndrome and foster a greater appreciation for the abilities, contributions, and potential of individuals with Down syndrome.

To Build Community

At its heart, Walk With Us is a celebration. It's a chance to connect with others who share your passion for inclusion, share experiences, and come together in support of a community that inspires us every single day.

Volunteer

Join us Sunday September 20, 2026 to help us host over 400 people at our annual Walk With Us event! Volunteer roles include:

  • 🛠️ Set-Up Crew | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (2 hrs): Help bring Walk With Us to life! Set up tables and chairs, and post signage along the route and reception site.
  • 🍽️ Lunch Crew | 11:30 AM - 3:30 PM (4 hrs): Receive food deliveries, set out food, and sell/serve to volunteers and attendees throughout the event.
  • 📋 Registration Crew | 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM (2 hrs): Be the friendly first face of the day! Process pledges and donations, check in volunteers, answer questions, and sell MDSS merch.
  • 🧹 Site Maintenance Crew | 12:00 PM - 3:30 PM (3.5 hrs): Keep the site clean and welcoming - empty bins, pick up litter, and collect supplies from the Lunch Crew.
  • 🎟️ Raffle Crew | 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM (3 hrs): Bring the excitement! Process raffle ticket sales and help build buzz for the big draw.
  • 🎨 Children's Activities Crew | 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM (4 hrs): Bring smiles to our littlest walkers with face painting and fun games.
  • 📦 Clean-Up Crew | 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM (1 hr): Help close out the day! Pack up tables, chairs, signage, and supplies, and tidy the site.

Last Year's Event - Thank You!

On September 21st, over 450 amazing participants came together for Walk With Us - and together, our community raised an incredible $70,500 in support of the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society!
