At the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. We rely on passionate, dedicated people like you to drive change, support our community, and help us achieve our mission of inclusion and acceptance for individuals with Down syndrome.
Whether you're a self-advocate, a parent, a sibling, a student, an employee, or simply someone who wants to celebrate the contributions and abilities of individuals with Down syndrome - there's a place for you here.
For the safety of our participants, recurring volunteers must complete a Criminal Record Check as well as an Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check.
When you sign up, we'll ask about your skills, interests, and experience so we can match you with opportunities that are the right fit. Once we begin planning upcoming events, we'll be in touch with ways to get involved.
Whether you're looking for an ongoing commitment or a one-time experience, we have opportunities for every schedule and interest.
Get involved on a regular basis and build meaningful connections with our community:

Make an impact at one of our signature events:
Do you have a passion for organizing, planning, or leading? We're always looking for dedicated volunteers to step into leadership roles and help bring our events to life. Event leads and planning volunteers play a vital role in shaping the MDSS experience - from coordinating logistics to rallying the community and ensuring every event runs smoothly.
If you have experience in event planning, project coordination, or simply have the drive to make things happen, we'd love to hear from you. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact on our community while developing valuable skills and experience.
Our Board of Directors is made up of dedicated volunteers who provide leadership, strategic direction, and governance to guide our organization forward. As a Board Director, you will play a key role in ensuring MDSS continues to grow, thrive, and serve the Down syndrome community in Manitoba.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences. Whether you bring expertise in finance, law, healthcare, communications, community development, or lived experience with Down syndrome - your perspective is valuable and needed at the table.
Board Directors typically commit to attending regular board meetings, participating in committees, and supporting the overall mission and vision of MDSS. It is one of the most impactful ways you can give back to our community.
If you're passionate about inclusion and want to make a difference at an organizational level, we'd love to hear from you.
