At the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society, we believe that every individual with Down syndrome and their family - no matter where they live in Manitoba - deserves access to meaningful support, connection, and community.

We recognize that many of our programs and events are primarily offered in Winnipeg, and that this can create real barriers for families living in other parts of the province. The MDSS Local Champions Fund was created to help change that.

About the Fund

The Local Champions Fund supports the delivery of community-led sport or physical activity-based programs, projects and initiatives outside of Winnipeg, helping to strengthen inclusion and connection across Manitoba. By investing in local efforts, we aim to reduce geographic barriers and expand meaningful opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and their families to participate in physical activity - wherever they call home.

Who Can Apply?

Active MDSS Members are eligible to apply for up to $500 to support physical activities that respond to local needs and priorities, including:

  • Educational resources
  • Community events and social activities
  • Accessible supports that promote belonging and inclusive physical movement for people with Down syndrome and their families
