Empowering Youth Through Movement, Connection, and Confidence!

The Manitoba Down Syndrome Society's Active Youth Program is a dynamic program designed to help youth with Down syndrome discover the joy of movement, build lasting friendships, and grow in confidence both on and off the field.

Made possible through the generous support of the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program and the Winnipeg Foundation, this program is a wonderful opportunity for youth and families in our community to come together, get active, and thrive.

About the Program

The MDSS Active Youth Program is open to youth with Down syndrome between the ages of 9 and 17. Through fun, inclusive, and supportive programming, participants will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of movement and physical literacy
  • Build confidence in sport, recreation, and everyday life
  • Develop social skills and form meaningful friendships with peers in a safe and welcoming environment

We welcome participants of all abilities and are committed to creating a space where every young person feels celebrated, supported, and empowered.

For Parents

The Active Youth Program isn't just for the kids! While your child is active and engaged, you'll have the opportunity to connect with other MDSS parents, share experiences, and build your own community of support.

Registration for 2025-2026 is currently closed

Registration for the 2026-2027 season will open in June 2026
